About

"The Three Graces." I tell you, it was born from a whisper, a sigh from the ancient world that resonated in my memories. I had the experience of seeing in person the beauty and grace of "The Three Graces," a marble sculpture at the Louvre Museum in Paris.

I remember standing before Canova's sublime marble sculpture, intently observing these goddesses of enchantment, beauty, and festivity, and feeling the longing to translate their ethereal form onto one of my canvases, onto one of my paintings, with a language of my time, a language of raw emotion and vibrant color. I felt at that moment that I should make more than one painting of such beauty together.

Specifically, in this Painting, I began with the canvas, a vast and expectant plane. I chose oil, that sensual medium, for its ability to capture the very texture of flesh, the subtle play of light on skin. The process was a dance, a struggle, a love story. I layered colors, earthy browns and ochres, to build the foundation, the suggestion of ancient stone, worn and eroded, the echo of time itself. Then, the Graces emerged. Not as perfect, polished figures, but as beings of wood and warmth, their fragmented forms, their textured surfaces, hinting at the fragility of beauty, the ephemeral nature of perfection. I thought about how those forms must have been sculpted with light, a soft, diffuse glow caressing their curves. So, with the help of my brushes, I could translate the subtle nuances of their bodies, revealing the deep, resonant shadows that anchor them in space, creating a sense of depth and volume.

"The Three Graces" is a conversation between the past and the present, a celebration of beauty in all its forms. It is a work that will resonate with collectors who appreciate the fusion of classical inspiration and contemporary vision. It is a piece that will command attention, spark conversation, and enrich any collection with its timeless elegance and undeniable power.
